The IBM 5100 computer is a new workstation that was developed at the IBM Palo Alto Scientific Center in 1973. $11000 for 16KB and $20000 for 64KB.

The IBM Los Gatos engineering prototype and a design model by IBM Industrial designer Tom Hardy, were utilized internally by Lowe in his early efforts to demonstrate the viability of creating a single-user computer.
The machine is available with APL and/or BASIC. IBM provided a substantial library of scientific routines for users on a DC300 QIC tape. Most of these machines were used in universities and large engineering companies.
