Galaga was released circa September 1981 by Namco/Midway. The game was developed by Namco. Galaga is a fixed shooter.

This game is more or less another Space Invaders inspired game,.

This game has insect like enemies to shoot. The goal is to rack up points which is typical with arcade games.

The player controls a starfighter that can move left and right along the bottom of the playfield. Enemies swarm in groups in a formation near the top of the screen, and then begin flying down toward the player, firing bullets at and attempting to crash into them.

At higher levels, some enemies even break from an entering group in a frantic attempt to crash into the player. The game ends when the player’s last fighter is lost by colliding with an enemy, being hit by an enemy bullet, or being captured.

This game can fire 2 shots in succession which gives the game more firepower. The game also has a challenge that comes up ever few levels.

The game enemies also have a tractor beam which can take away a player’s ship and make it become another enemy.

The game uses a Z80 CPU with RGB color graphics.
