Aldus Freehand is a 2D vector drawing program announced in 1987 and available finally in 1988 for the PC.
Freehand is similar to CorelDraw which is very popular. Freehand is strong from its background from AltSys and their popular Fontographer package.
FreeHand has good capability for line art type drawings as well as custom text placement etc. Much of the ability in Freehand came from considering CorelDraw.
FreeHand was created by Altsys Corporation in 1988 and licensed to Aldus Corporation.
