Microsoft bought a 3D game package which became Direct3D and microsoft then began expanding on the original effort. Microsoft had acquired Rendermorphics earlier in the year.

Microsoft has accelerated the development of game SDK assets as game developers prepare for the holiday season ahead.

The new ATI 3D Rage II was the latest gaming graphics card that promises 3D acceleration up to resolutions of 1280×1024, and comes in 2, 4, and 8MB configurations.
