The supplied hardware includes 20x Motherboard Standoffs, 40x 6-32 Screws, 30x M3 Screws, 16x M47 Screws, 12x Cable Ties, 4x Casters, Motherboard Speaker, 8-Pin CPU Power Adapter, 3.5″ Drive Bay Cover, Manual, Motherboard Form Factor Guide.

The HAF 92 front panel has 2x USB 2.0, IEEE 1394a, 2x USB 2.0, eSATA, Microphone, Headphone, blue Power LED, blue Hard Drive Activity LED. The old standard of a green LED for power and red LED for hard disk activity have given way to new LED styles.

With 5 bays for hard disks storage is not a problem. The 6 DVD bays can handle fan controllers, USB boxes and flash card readers. The bottom mounted PSU allows for very easy access to the motherboard for peripheral card installation and easy air flow in operation.

Be aware that some fans are attached with hex head screws. Screwdrivers with a hex head are readily available. The studio has an extensive selection of screwdrivers to handle exotic requirements.

There are three 230mm x 30mm fans on the front, top and side panel and there is a 140mm x 25mm fan at the rear. There is ample room on top for a water cooler mounted on top. Fan models include:

The HAF 932 has lots of room for working on the machine. There is lots of room on the front for multiple optical drives and there is room for five hard disks. It is very easy to route cables and there are eyes to thread zip-ties to secure them.

A high-end SATA card would be needed to handle a fully loaded case as most motherboards do not have more than 2-4 SATA headers. Low cost 16-port SATA cards are available and cables are easily available.

There is also abundant room under the motherboard tray for cables so that it’s easy to zip-tie them into place. Properly managed cables make air flow much better and it’s also much easier to swap out the motherboard when an upgrade is desired.


If you are looking for a chassis to last a long time, the HAF 932 will deliver. The bottom mounted PSU means it’s never in the way and it is easy to manage cables. The style top mounted method has the disadvantage of warmer operating temperatures. The bottom mounted PSU intake cool air from the floor.


Installing a full ATX motherboard is very easy. There is ample room for the screwdriver to tighten down the screws properly. Its good practice to install serveral screws to the motherboard so that is very secure. Swapping video cards can stress a poorly mounted motherboard.

The four front USB 2.0 ports are handy when copying lots of data from USB sticks. USB sticks are comparatively slow so copying them to a hard disk makes sense. The USB ports are also handy for charging mobile devices like an iPod.

The OEM photo for the HAF 932 has an Asus P5Q motherboard which is an Intel LGA775 with 1 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1 and three PCI slots. DDR2 is standard for LGA775 motherboards. Machines from this period run warm.

The PSU shown was the Cooler Master RS-850-ESBA that had 4 circuits for 12V. The PSU was made by CWT. More expensive power supplies have a single rail which simplifies the power management. Real power loads are dynamic on a PC which is why the switching designs are ideal.


The large fans are likely to last for a long time as well. Watch the PSU for dust. An air purifier or three can make a chassis like the HAF 932 run well for years to come. Dust build up acts like an insulator leading to overheating.
