Sims 2 was released September 14, 2004 by EA Games. The game was developed by Maxis. The Sims 2 is life simulation game.
When it was released, the Sims 2 sold 1 million copies in the first 10 days setting a record for the time. Since then EA has sold over 14 million copies. That makes it the 2nd top selling PC game.
This game uses disc checks and Securom, Macromedia, Starforce, Tagès and other protection systems are being rejected by Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10 for security reasons (KB3086255).
From the neighborhood view, the player selects one lot to play, as in The Sims. There are both residential and community lots, but Sims can only live in residential lots. Community lots are where Sims travel to in order to purchase things like clothing and magazines, and to interact with NPCs.
The game is completely open ended. The player manages all aspects of the characters under their control.
Each character has numerous attributes to manage including aspirations through the need to use the toilet.
The character life is 99 days (game time) and then a new character can be played.
EA and Maxis have released a total of 8 expansions for the Sims 2 core game.
