Wolfenstein: The Old Blood was released May 5, 2015 by Bethesda. The game was developed by Machinegames. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a first person shooter.

If you have played earlier releases of Wolfenstein, little has changed with the game play. If you enjoyed Wolfenstein: The New Order you will definitely enjoy The Old Blood.

To progress through the story, players take on enemies throughout levels. The game utilizes a health system in which players’ health is divided into separate sections that regenerate; if an entire section is lost, players must use a health pack to replenish the missing health.

Players use melee attacks, firearms and explosives to fight enemies, and may run, jump and occasionally swim to navigate through the locations.

Melee attacks can be used to silently take down enemies without being detected. Alternatively, players can ambush enemies, which will result in an intense firefight between the two parties.

In combat, a cover system can be used as assistance against enemies. Players have the ability to lean around, over, and under cover, which can be used as a tactical advantage during shootouts and stealth levels.

The player has an inventory of weapons that expands as new ones are found. Ammo varies somewhat and when one weapon runs out another can be loaded quickly to continue combat. Some weapons can be dual wielded for additional firepower.

Players can also customize weapons through the use of upgrades; for example, a rocket launcher can be attached to the side of an assault rifle, and a laser cannon can be transformed into a cutting tool.

There are challenges you unlock after getting to specific areas of a chapter which you can choose the difficulty for and will give medals depending on how well you did.

The knife and hatchet are new for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Otherwise this installment is another excellent shooter.

The Old Blood is 8 Chapters long, shorter than the main campaign of course but definitely worth it. If you have not played Wolfenstein: The New Order then playing The Old Blood First will get the story straight.
