AMD has announced that with their professional cards the move to supporting 16K is on the radar.

  • 1080p – 1920 x 1080 (2 megapixels)
  • 4K – 3840 x 2160 (8.2 megapixels)
  • 8K – 7680 x 4320 (33 megapixels)
  • 16K – 15,360 x 8640 (132 megapixels)

The staggering amount of bandwidth for 16K is hard to imagine. At present even DisplayPort cannot come close, and HDMI is even further behind. Even supporting 4K is brutal for HDMI.

The Radeon Pro lineup are expensive but port limitations are the governing step. Radeon is popular for multiple panel setups for brokers etc.
