AMD cut prices recently on Phenom II, some FX processors and some APUs. While expectations for the Zen are growing, there are large numbers of AM3 and AM3+ machines that would benefit from a better CPU. LLano and Trinity APU prices are also better.

We use the Phenom II X4 965 BE and its now $91 which is a lot lower than then it first came out. Today the X4 processor is the sweet spot for gaming however adding a few more cores does add more thread capacity.

AMD has replaced many older FX processors with faster variants so the older models are now forced lower.
