Resident Evil 7: Biohazard 7 was released on January 24, 2017 by Capcom who also developed the game. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard 7 is a first person horror shooter.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard 7 is a thrillingly immersive horror experience. The full model change to the frightening “Isolated View” player perspective, and photorealistic graphics of the cutting-edge RE Engine mark a new beginning for survival horror.
Capcom has finally granted our wish for a first person perspective for the series. We like the way Bethesda has a switchable mode from first person to third person as a player wants. Perhaps Capcom will adopt a similar strategy?
The story is set 4 years after the last installment. Players take on the role of Ethan Winters who is not exactly chisel jawed. Instead Ethan is searching for his missing wife, Mia, which leads him to a derelict plantation mansion, home of the Baker family.
Veterans of the series know that Resident Evil is an old school zombie action game. The game is very creepy, maybe even more than Outlast. The bathtub full of blood is a nice touch to make the game look very creepy.
The gameplay is excellent, the controls are very responsive which is ideal for a twitch shooter class game. Younger players will appreciate the chainsaw graphics. The classic chainsaw from Doom has set the tone for gore in gaming. There are some healing herbs, a few puzzles and some resource management.
The game has an inventory system. Early on bolt-cutter and a video tape are found. There are keys for doors to find too. The tape is part of the puzzles in the game so you need to put it in the VCR to watch it.
The Dissection Key is in the basement processing area, You have to find the broken shotgun to swap with the one holding the door so you do not get trapped etc. The M19 pistol is the first weapon that is not hard to find.
Antique coins can be used a special save points to get special upgrades etc..
This release has sold in excess of 2.5 million and the series now tops 75 million game disks sold.
We expect Capcom to have an expansion for this game.
