The GA-AB350 Gaming is a mid range ATX motherboard designed for new builds and general purpose use. The simplicity of the motherboard makes it easy to install.

The Bristol Ridge A12-9800 APU was using for testing, Ryzen processors will work as well.

With 4 DDR4 slots this board can support up to 64GB of memory which is far more than contemporary needs. Installing 4 sticks of memory however does boost overall memory bandwidth. The A12-9800 does not support ECC memory. AMD Opteron processors are needed for ECC which should be available Q1 or Q2 2017.

AMD is expected to have a 32-core 64-thread CPU for servers and it may be available to high-end desktop users. The same CPU is expected t have 8 memory channels which means 8 stick setups would be possible.

The AMD B350 is very low power device so it can function with only a basic heatsink. Older hardware needed to use more power but AMD has managed to reduce that considerably. The B350 is similar to the older SB950 with SATA and USB ports. The B350 also manages the secondary PCI Express slots. The Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming easily steps up to take over from the older AMD 970 based boards.

Integrated graphics are now seen with both AMD and Intel machines. If a Summit Ridge FX processor is used the integrated graphics will be disabled as the CPU expects a dedicated video card to be present.

The PCI Express 3.0 slot will increase the bandwidth even more to the video card. This will make DX11 and DX12 games run more smoothly as DDR4 is much faster and can more easily keep pace.

The use of 4 USB 3.0 ports is very helpful. The red USB 3.1 type A ports offer higher speeds. The big advantage is the faster charging capability. This board would with VGA in addition to DVI and HDMI can be used with a wide range of applications. Low cost PCI Express cards for those who need a USB 3.1 type C port for a mobile device.

The slots are set up for a single graphics card. The second x16 slot is electrically x4 which is suitable for peripherals. There are 6 SATA headers to connect disks. There are two USB 2.0 headers which can be used for front panel or brought out the rear with a bracket. 

The M.2 slot is placed under the video card area which is the best place for it especially with dual slot video cards installed. Recently Samsung introduced their new 960 series which would do well on the GA-AB350M Gaming 3.
