This time around the action takes place in Bolivia. The goal is to take on the Santa Blanka drug cartel which has become the largest producer of cocaine. With the cartel’s growing influence, the US dispatches an elite special operations group. The team will try to eliminate cartel members while gathering intelligence that could link the cartel to the Bolivian government.

The gear available will be contemporary mass market weapons. There will be some special weapons available such as drones.

This release is the first of the series to feature an open world, which includes nine different types of terrain, such as mountains, forests, desert, salt flats. The game also introduce dynamic weather system and day-night cycle. Players can parachute from a helicopter, walk overland, or drive towards their objectives.

The game has a better AI that is not scripted. Instead it will be dynamic to the situation. Players are allowed to use multiple ways to complete objectives, such as utilizing stealth, mêlée combat, or using the long-ranged or short-ranged weapons provided in the game. Between missions, players are free to explore the game’s world, and the game features outposts that can be taken down by players.
