Checking the brightness showed it to be 301 nits with a lux meter. Ideally a 10-bit RGB panel should be brighter at at least 600-1000 nits to be able to support the dynamic range properly. LG should have installed several more LED lamps into the panel to increase the brightness.

The operating power consumption is very low at 35W. This alone pays for itself vs a 65W panel rather quickly. This gives the LG 27UL500 the Energy Star award easily.

The LG 27UL500 supports HDR in Windows 10 and it can handle even 4:4:4 chroma sampling with DisplayPort. This is the reason the picture quality is superior.

The color quality of IPS cannot be disputed when it comes to 4:4:4 vs 4:2:0. The LG 27UL500 is capable of handling the best that a PC can deliver.

The very high DPI of the LG 27UL500 maybe tricky to find the mouse with the default settings. Go into the Control Panel and Ease of Use and select the mouse. Select the inverting which will change the mouse from back to white as needed making it far easier to use.

Less than 1% of Steam users have a 3840×2160 or better LCD to play games on. The reason is simple, video cards are not able to handle 4 times the pixels of the HDTV display.

Cards like the GTX 690 have lots of performance but the VRAM is limited. The GTX 1080 Ti with 8GB VRAM is powerful enough to handle most games fine at 3840×2160.
