The Samsung C49RG90SSU LCD is an ultra-wide panel with 5120×1440 resolution at 120Hz. It also supports AMD Freesync 2. The MSRP is $1639.

  • 4ms response time, Game Mode, HDR 1000, QLED
  • Connections: HDMI/ 2x Display Port/ 4x USB
  • Great for: advanced gaming, streaming and productivity

Earlier ultra-wide 32:9 panels offered 2x1080p resolution but now Samsung has stepped up with 2x1440p resolution.

The panel is using an edge lit backlight which will limit the HDR somewhat. The curved panel is 49″ diagonal making it a comparatively large display.

Samsung is using a curved QLED display panel, which supports 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space and offers a 4ms grey-to-grey response time.  The backlight of the Samsung C49RG9 monitor features a quantum dot enhanced film (QDEF) layer, which enhances its color gamut to 95% DCI-P3 (equal to 125% sRGB) for more vibrant and lifelike colors.

The panel offers two DisplayPort 1.4 connections as well as a single HDMI port. USB 3.0 and headphone connectivity options are also available. The overall viewing experience is astounding. However, the colors and contrast still aren’t as good as they are on the 27″ 4K 144Hz HDR displays with 384-zone FALD (full-array local dimming). Still the panel is a great asset for anyone who has enough GPU performance to handle it.
