Sigma Theory: Global Cold War was released on April 18, 2019 by Mi-Clos Studio. The game was developed by Mi-Clos Studio and Goblinz Studio. Sigma Theory: Global Cold War is a turn based strategy game.
Over two dozen people worked on this game at Mi-Clos Studio and Goblinz Studio over the last few months. The game supports several languages when released and more are planned,
Taking inspiration from XCom, Phantom Doctrine, Plague Inc, Pandemic (board game), Rocket Ranger, Tropico, Armello, Civilization, curious expedition and so much more: From the creators of the award-winning sci-fi game Out There…
In the near future, a paradigm-shifting scientific discovery looms over the world, promising radical new technologies. The world’s superpowers realize they could have the power to destroy the global financial system, wipe out entire countries or even gain access to immortality.
To start you need to create a account which is just a character which by default is John Doe. First, players recruit a team of four special agents from 50 unique unlockable characters to support your missions. Each comes with their own story, motivations and traits that define their behavior during missions.
Access the investigator, soldier, hacker, seducer and other archetypes to complete your Sigma division and execute your strategy. There are a lot of traits in the talent tree to leverage.
The game uses a lot of espionage as the gameplay. We have seen this in Doctrine 2 but that game is otherwise quite different. When your team is ready, assign them missions around the world to gather scientists, discover compromising documents on local politicians, and more.
As simple as it seems at first, there is quite a lot of depth involved in the game. From moving operatives around, to the RNG involved with extracting scientists OR your own captured agents or even world leaders changing how they react to you in different games. The game has roguelike elements, but I would say that they are more like board game elements, random composition of each game. You finish a playthrough in 2-3 hours and unlock characters.
A bit unusual is that to quit the game is in the options instead of being on the main menu.
