Halo: Reach is now playable on the PC so a a video of the game has been posted so that fans who are lined up for the MCC PC version can see what it looks like at 3840×2160.

To be sure there are still some problems but at least now the game is being debugged by Q/A testers who are working with the developers to get the game ready. The Xbox Studios are working hard to get the components of the entire Master Chief Collection ready for release.

In total, the Master Chief Collection will entail over 120 multiplayer maps and 67 campaign missions—which should be enough to keep you occupied for a while. The idea is to “evolve and grow” the collection over time with community input, so it’s likely we’ll see more features added to each game after launch.

Now that the game is being designed for 3840×2160 the game’s artwork can now be seen fully within the original design intents when Halo: Combat Evolved was originally designed.

Release date is not yet known but this 17 minute video shows that work has been making milestones on schedule. Debugging can be demanding and it may be several more weeks before a schedule can be assembled.

Evidently the level editor for Reach is not going to be ready in time for the MCC PC release so it is likely going to be speeded up after the main game components are done. Forge will be available in Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Halo 2 will be using a new engine.

Maps made in the Forge modes on Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 will be playable on PC: to prepare, all you have to do is boot them up on Xbox 360, or Xbox One if available, and upload files to your file share. When the time comes, you’ll be able to play them in The Master Chief Collection on PC.

There are a lot of existing maps for Halo already in the wings awaiting for the MCC to show up on Steam. The community system in Steam can handle the distribution of maps easily. The MCC will offer the dual wield first seen in Halo 2.

All of the Halo games are being remastered so they all require a 64-bit machine with at least 8GB and better is 16GB of memory with a good powerful video card. 3840×2160 is a lot more demanding than 1920×1080 for gaming.

The original Halo: Combat Evolved with the 1.10 patch works fine at 3840×2160 which is much appreciated. That game runs great at UHD and its graphics are amazing for a single CD game. The procedural nature of Halo is probably the biggest reason it works so well on modern machines.


An insider test with less than 1000 players has been ongoing as a bug bash continues until Monday. 343 said a copy has been leaked and that anyone caught playing it may have their account banned permanently.
