Avalanche Studios has announced that Rage 2 will be updated to support the new AMD FidelityFX technology which is seen on the new FX 5700 cards that AMD announced some weeks ago.

The AMD FidelityFX is an advanced sharpening post-process effect that can improve the image/visuals, especially if you’re playing a game with an weak TAA implementation.

To start with FidelityFX is presently only working with DX11. DX12 support will be added in a future update. The improvement is clarity in imaging is the big benefit.

Gearbox entered into a new deal with AMD to work with the new video cards as well as work with the FidelityFX towards making games better. The upcoming Borderlands 3 will also be using the AMD FidelityFX.

So far the list of developers signed on includes: Ubisoft, Gearbox, Rebellion, WB Games, Codemasters, Capcom, and Unity – along with many more.

Obviously AMD has countered nVidia with their own gaming technology as the competition begins to heat up. AMD basically is leveraging their console capability and bringing to the PC.

Rage 2 patch 2 will be available towards the end of the month.
