Doom Eternal was released on March 20, 2020 by Bethesda. The game was developed by id Software. Doom Eternal is a first person shooter.

The game is being offered in a few configurations. The basic game is standard with the deluxe version which includes a seasons pass and a sound track as a bonus.

Compared to the 2016 release of Doom, Eternal will offer twice as many demons. The reboot was criticised for having hardly anything to kill. No surprise that Doom Eternal has been rated M by the ESRB.

Doom Eternal takes over from Doom when demons have overrun the world and the player has to clean up the mess.

There are new types of enemies, such as the Marauder and Doom Hunter, while others, such as the Pain Elemental, Arachnotron, and Archvile, will be reintroduced from previous Doom entries.

The player has access to various firearms, such as the Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun, Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, BFG 9000, and Ballista. Melee weapons such as a chainsaw, the “Crucible Blade” energy sword and a retractable arm-blade can also be used. The arm-blade provides the opportunity for a larger variety of quick and violent “glory kill” executions.

The super shotgun now has a grappler which can be used in combat as a meat hook. The grappler can also be used to get around the game world instead of using the rocket launcher to leap around.

Armaments including missiles, grenade launchers and flamethrowers can also be attached to the Doom Slayer’s armor. New movement mechanics such as wall-climbing and dash moves will make this game far more dynamic.

A new feature called the Invasion Mode, which will allow players to enter others’ campaigns as a playable demon. This new mode will be a free download available shortly after the game arrives.

The new id Tech 7 engine will offer a dramatically better detailed game world. The engine supports HDR and it also has integrated physics based rendering as well.

The map scale is larger and the game has more varied locales. This will allow more exploration as compared to earlier shooters. Typically with Doom onwards the blood and guts are standard and now the new engine the chainsaw should be more popular than ever.

A more modern box will be much more successful running Doom Eternal. The EVGA GTX 1060, for example, is adequate as long as there is lots of main memory installed.
