Intel released a new version of their Memory and Storage Tool. They still have not fixed the problem of compliance with SATA.
I have a PCIe card with 8 SATA ports and it uses a SATA port expander to increase the density without using an additional PCIe lane. Windows does not have a problem with the card if I use the Marvel driver. The basic Windows driver does not recognize SATA expanders.
Marvel is the main chip which is well known for making a PCIe SATA controller. One 4-pot card has one of their chips and 4 SATA connectors. The 8-port card uses a Jmicron SATA lane expander.
So I have brought this to the attention of Intel and they still have not fixed their software to be compliant.
