ACTIVISION AND INFINITY WARD SUED

Activision, Infinity Ward and Major League Gaming have been sued in Texas for copyright infringement. At issue is the use of the same woman attired in the same costume used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The plaintiff, Clayton Haugen, is a photographer, videographer and writer based North Carolina. The character called Cade Janus was developed by Haugen in 2017 in a series of shots and clips of an actress Alex Zedra he hired for the work.

As part of their hunt for a “strong, skilled female fighter”, the defendant videogame companies (through contractors) allegedly hired the same ‘talent’ (Zedra) and asked her to obtain the same clothing and gear used in the original ‘Cade Janus’ photoshoot from Haugen himself.

This became the basis for a copyright infringement. Clayton Haugen retained attorneys and files a formal suit.
