E3 GOES DIGITAL OTHERS CANCELLED

E3 this year is going digital due to the COVID-19 problem. Many other events are also cancelled which means that the gaming scene will be slow this year. Given the pressure to manufacture vaccines it may be until fall before everyone is treated just to salvage the holiday shopping season.

CES was digital this year but slim pickings from the gaming industry. Now with E3 being digital the gaming industry is again playing second fiddle.

On the face of it, it’s clear that it will not be until 2022 before things get back to normal in gaming. Johnson & Johnson suggested that coronavirus shots may be needed annually because of the ongoing mutations. There are already several even more contagious serotypes of coronavirus to make matter worse. Worldwide, more than 2,320,497 have died from coronavirus according to the WHO.

China has a domestically developed vaccine made by Sinopharm. Russian has one branded Sputnik V. The US has a couple vaccines approved and more are pending. The EU has one approved and more are seeking approval.

Unlike Pfizer’s and Moderna’s vaccines, which require two doses given about three to four weeks apart, Johnson & Johnson’s only requires one dose, easing logistics for health-care providers.
