Xbox has sent me a notice that testing for Halo: Master Chief Collection season 7 is now available. A measly 32.8GB download. It’s clear that Xbox is working overtime to modernize the Halo story form the start onwards.
The goals of this flight are to test our distribution pipeline, validate several new features coming to Master Chief Collection, gather feedback on the content listed below, and ensure all supporting systems are functioning properly in preparation for Season 7.
One of the new features will be a server selector for multiplayer games. This will allow players to find servers with low lag as Halo is slightly more sensitive than other games for lag.
Halo: Combat Evolved:
- The Pillar of Autumn
- The Truth and Reconciliation
- The Silent Cartographer
- Assault on the Control Room
- 343 Guilty Spark
The remaining chapters for Halo: Combat Evolved will likely be ready for the June launch of season 7. Most likely more bug fixes in addition to the revamping of the cutscenes.
Halo 3 Multiplayer:
- Last Resort
- The Pit
Halo 4 multiplayer:
All of the maps are considered limited, the flight is more to make sure the game is rock stable. Halo’s status demands tier 1 quality which is one of the functions that the studio offers to all publishers large or small.
HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED REMASTERED
Halo: Combat Evolved looks like it has been partially remastered. Playing the campaign shows that some parts are not done and most likely will be beta tested down the road. The Pillar of Autumn is more than enough to show the amount of work Xbox has put into the game. Now the original game looks more like Halo 4 or even Halo 5 for the level of detail and animation. The characters now are accurate in speaking with lip animation which is an excellent improvement. Animation of the Covenant is also much smoother.
I have often pestered for Halo 5 on Steam so that the story is complete when Halo: Infinite finally is released. Halo: Infinity is likely to be released in Q4 which gives the teams lots of time to clean up the remaking bugs and advance the saga of the Master Chief.
PILLAR OF AUTUMN
Let’s thaw him out. This is the start of the player taking on the roll of the Master Chief which is a Mark V combat ready warrier.
The Pillar of Autumn chapter definitely set the tone for what can be done. The remaining chapters are partially remastered with the animation being the main improvement. The decals are now richly detailed so that the player can more easily identify his location in the pillar of autumn. The escape pod is on the left with more Covenant grunts further down the hallway. Once the player enters the doorway a cut scene takes over as the player leaves the Pillar of Autumn and lands on the ring orbiting the planet.
It may be a few months before the remaining chapters Combat Evolved are finished and the updated game takes its place in the Halo: Master Chief Collection for the Xbox and PC.
TRUTH AND RECONCILLIATION
The way to the gravity lift has lots of Covenant to impede your way towards the the gravity lift.
The gravity lift presents several waves of Covenant forces to try to stop access to the lift.
One aboard more Covenant forces attack the players team. Eventually Cortana guides the player to open a door so that NPC can continue to follow along with the Master Chief and try to find Captain Keyes.
