MARVELL BRAVERA SC5

The Marvell Bravera SC5 PCIe crossbar logic is available in:

  • MV-SS1331 (8 channels)
  • MV-SS1333 (16 channels)
  • Both controllers support latest NAND devices up to 1600MT/s

The Bravera SC5 SSD controllers feature 72-bit DDR interface with the option of using either DDR4 or LPDDR4X and has 10 embedded processor cores: Arm® Cortex®-R8 cores plus additional Cortex-M7 cores for providing further flexibility.

Both are capable of driving 14GB/s of sequential read throughput and 9GB/s of sequential write throughput, along with random read and write speeds of 2 million IOPs and 1 million IOPs, respectively.

Marvell marketings said support for multiple usage models, such as SEF, ZNS, Open Channel, and more, all without having to make hardware changes. As such, there is flexibility to repurpose the underlying hardware when migrating to a next-gen workload, Marvell says. Marvell is well kmn on the entry level server market.

The Corsair Obsidian 750D has 9 bays for hard disks along with a pair of motherboard mounted solid state drives. The Mavell 9255 4 port SATA controller provides enough extra support for storage. More USB 3.x ports are installed in the front disk bays. The PCIe switch chips can handle a server full of hard disks. Marvell is well known supplier of Ethernet but the company has a wide portfolio of devices. The MSI X570-A PRO uses a Realtek Ethernet controller but the Intel AX210 is installed for faster performance. Audio is 7.1 is inadequate for Dolby Atmos.

Some home entertainment equipment use secondary HDMI to support a larger speaker layout. Some sound bars feature HDMI to support multichannel sound systems.
