While Japan hoped to make a pile with the Olympics, COVID-19 left them $20 billion in the red. The fear of COVID-19 is the reason. Politicians will likely be facing an angry electorate in upcoming elections come October 22, 2021.
The local Japanese people are not attending the events mainly out of fear. Immunization rates in Japan are well below North America. Japan completed providing the first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to 30.8 percent of its population. The figure is 0.4 percentage points higher than Korea, which recorded 30.4 percent on the same day. Canada is now over 75% with first dose. Japan has only 8% of the population fully immunized.
Canada now reaching higher levels of immunization with at least one dose and nearly highest levels for full immunization. Israel is now using a third booster dose of mRNA immunization as resistance as been documented as weakening over time. Canada has achieved higher rates of immunization over the US who were several months ahead driven mostly by consensus that COVID-19 is not in anyone’s interest. The US has faced waning interest.
