It seems that more problems are surfacing with GDDR6X which runs hot when abused for mining. Now some have looked at the thermal pads to see what gives. In some cases the pad has failed which needs to be repaired immediately,
RTX Ampere cards are known to be warm in gaming. The cards are able to handle the transient workload of a game fine. The mining workload is what causes the cards to eventually trash the thermal material on the way to fried VRAM chips.
Given the damage to RTX 3000 cards by mining it suggests that the resale value will be very poor.
