Aliens: Fireteam Elite was released on August 24, 2021 by Cold Iron Studios and Focus Home Interactive. The game was developed by Cold Iron Studios and Focus Home Interactive. Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a third person shooter.
It looks like Sega has given up on the Alien saga or otherwise they simply let the developers self publish the game themselves. Just glad Randy Pitchford had nothing to do with this game after the fiasco with Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Playing this game makes me feel like this is a generic dungeon crawler. The player has to go through a lot of doors suggesting the development tools are older. The animation of the player and a couple of AI tagalongs make up the entourage, The xenomorphs animation is very run of the mill. When your entire team dies you’ll hear the distant echoes of a voice saying “Game over, man! Game over!”
Having said that, the game itself is actually not all that bad, Even on the standard mode the game becomes rather difficult as the game pours on more and more xenomorphs. The game doesn’t seem too story driven, but the lore and story presented is more sensible and interesting than it is in Aliens: Colonial Marines. It’s not atmospheric or scary, however, it can get very intense and cinematic despite its arcadiness.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite is configured as a coop action game. The developer does support SP for lone cowboys but the game is way more fun with internet coop play. If you want to dive into an Aliens game and enjoy some mostly mindless fun shooting xenos with buds while quoting Aliens, there’s value here.
