The Space X company run by Elon Musk has placed over 1,700 satellites into low earth orbit. The service is $99 but no details of speed or usage was mentioned.

The SpaceX satellite development facility in Redmond, Washington houses the Starlink research, development, manufacturing, and orbit control teams. The cost of the decade-long project to design, build, and deploy the constellation was estimated by SpaceX in May 2018 to be at least US$10 billion.

Starlink is now serving 14 countries and efforts for licensing in other motions is ongoing. Starlink is global, internet anywhere on the planet. Space X launches up to 60 satellites per load.

A Starlink Kit includes a satellite antenna dish, a stand, a power supply, and WiFi router. More recently, SpaceX has indicated it plans to expand the service to work for in-flight internet, or on moving ships and in trucks.

Space X hopes to earn enough to afford the development of a Mars mission. Mars is well explored by robots so a compendium of the planet has been done. Estimates of $10 trillion is still a lot of money.
