MICROSOFT OFFICE AND WINDOWS 11

I have discs for Microsoft Office 97 onward. Testing Office was met with headaches galore. The 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office are tested where available as the operating system is also 64-bit. Microsoft legally has obligations to fix the defective software, Shrink wrap licenses are not a valid defence.

OFFICE VERSIONCOMPATIBILITY
Office 97 Professionalworks but Outlook does not work with Microsoft accounts anymore
Office 2000 Professional Plusworks but Outlook does not work with Microsoft accounts anymore
Office XP Professionalworks but Outlook does not work with Microsoft accounts anymore
Office 2003 Professional Plusworks but Outlook does not work with Microsoft accounts anymore
Office 2007 Professional Plusworks but out of support
Office 2010 Professional Plusworks but out of support
Office 2013 Professional Plusworks but support has nearly lapsed
Office 2016 Professional Plusworks but outlook does not work properly
Office 2019 Professional Plusworks but outlook does not work properly
Office 2021untested

Even more annoying is that installing a new version of Office tampers with an existing one and deletes the shortcut to Outlook etc. That is WRONG. It is also arrogant when somebody has to do compatibility testing. Even uninstalling does not restore the missing shortcuts. That is arrogant in the extreme.

Microsoft Office licenses are expensive so rendering them useless means that Windows 11 is far from business friendly. No commercial office would put up with a dysfunctional email system. Office 2021 is worthless as there is no extended support past 2026 mainstream support.

Open Office is an alternative for those who do not have a license for Microsoft Office. It is free and open source. The Apache Foundation handles the maintenance.

Clearly the cost per body has risen. IT spending now has to consider cash flow more closely to be sure that seasonal cycles are considered, Development teams vary in the available budget. Microsoft does allow the corporation to use their web domain for email with the business plans.

Office 2016 Professional Plus is the last physical disc available. Office 2019 and above now depend on web-installers.

EVEN MORE MONEY

Adobe used to be $50 a month but now they want $104.99 which is far above even the top tier of Office. Autodesk Media & Entertainment costs $295 per month with discounts for annual and 3 year terms.

Apple costs US$1 per month for 50GB of cloud. This is available for iPhone, iPad, MacBook and PC across the board. Apple has more storage of needed but 50GB is a lot of room for images etc.
