MODERNA TARGETS OMICRON

Moderna has indicated that a new immunization for COVID-19 omicron will be available this fall. Moderna is discussing whether the shot needs to contain any other components to fight the virus. Moderna can supply 2 billion to 3 billion booster doses this year.

It seems that Moderna has sidestepped the delta variant which has been responsible for most of the hospitalizations. Omicron seems to be somewhat less harmful.

Pfizer is immunizing younger persons but they are also developing new immunizations for the fall. Pfizer said their omicron immunization will be ready by March. It appears that the Pfizer may have multiple serotypes which would make it even more desirable.
